How We Vet Bathroom Remodeling Pros in Arvada

Before a bathroom remodeling company hears about a single Arvada request from this site, we check three things: that it holds the licence the city and the State of Colorado require for the work, that its paperwork, including insurance, is in place, and that we want to recommend it after interviewing the people who run it. Here is what each check covers and what it means for your bathroom.

Which licence does a remodeler need before we recommend it?

A City of Arvada contractor licence, plus the state licences for any plumbing and electrical work. Arvada licenses all contractors involved in the construction, alteration, remodeling and repairing of buildings, and a contractor needs that licence before it can obtain a building permit; the Class C General Contractor licence covers one- and two-family homes. Plumbing and electrical work in Colorado must be done by state-licensed trades, so we check who holds those licences before a company is recommended for a bathroom that involves them. For homes in Westminster, Lakewood or Golden, the company also needs that city's own licence or registration.

What paperwork has to be in place?

Current insurance and the paperwork its licence depends on. We ask for the company's insurance certificate and the other documents behind its licence, and a company whose paperwork has lapsed receives no requests until it is current again.

Why do we interview every remodeler?

Because a licence shows a company may do the work, not whether we would send a neighbour to it. We talk with the people who run the company about the bathroom work it takes on around Arvada, and we only recommend a company we are comfortable putting our name next to.

What does this mean for your remodel?

The one pro who contacts you has passed all three checks, and nobody else gets your details. The contract is still between you and that company, so get the scope, the permit and the allowances in writing, and if your home was built before 1978, ask about lead-safe work practices; how to choose a remodeler lists the questions. This site doesn't design, schedule or supervise the work. Until our vetted local bathroom remodeling pro is confirmed for your area, your request is held and not shared with anyone.
